Starlit Fragrant Splendor

Scientific Name: Jasminum nitidum
Common Names / Known As: Angelwing Jasmine, Star Jasmine, Shining Jasmine
Overview: Angelwing Jasmine captivates with its glossy, dark green leaves and fragrant, star-shaped white flowers that bloom on slender vines. Native to the Admiralty Islands and Papua New Guinea, this evergreen vine or shrub is cherished for its lush, tropical appearance and sweet, jasmine-like scent, especially at night. Its vigorous growth and stunning blooms make it perfect for creating a romantic, fragrant ambiance in gardens or indoor spaces.
Quirky Fact / Common Use: The star-shaped flowers, often used in leis or perfumes, are a symbol of love and beauty in many cultures, and their fragrance intensifies after sunset, making it a favorite for evening gardens.
Available Sizes: 19cm Nursery Pot

Ideal For:

  • Gardens, trellises, or fences in warm climates, adding a fragrant, climbing accent.

  • Large containers or hanging baskets for patios or indoor spaces in cooler regions.

  • A must-have for night gardens or near windows to enjoy its intoxicating scent, with vines reaching 3–6 meters or a shrub height of 0.6–1 meter.

(Received plants may differ slightly from images displayed. Unless otherwise specified, all plants come in black nursery pots)

Light: Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Full sun promotes abundant blooming, while partial shade suits indoor or shaded garden settings. Avoid deep shade to ensure healthy growth.
Watering: Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry, approximately every 7–10 days. Ensure well-draining soil to prevent waterlogging. Drought-tolerant once established.
Temperature: Prefers 18–29°C, ideal for South African warm climates. Protect from frost or temperatures below -4°C; bring indoors in cooler regions.
Feeding: Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer (e.g., 10:10:10) monthly during spring and summer. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter to avoid over-fertilization.
Pet Friendly? ❌ Mildly toxic to cats, dogs, and children if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and little ones.
Care: Prune after flowering to maintain shape or encourage bushiness. Use well-draining, fertile soil and pots with drainage holes to prevent root rot. Monitor for pests like aphids or spider mites; treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap if needed. For climbing, provide trellises or supports to guide growth.

What would you like to see:

To ensure fresh and healthy plants we follow a strict weekly shipping schedule:

Mondays: We prepare plants for shipping! This means wrapping the soil, adding plant sleeves, and one last pre-travel watering.
Tuesdays: We wake up bright and early to get all plants carefully packaged for shipping in the morning, in the afternoon we hand over plants with the longest travel ahead of them to our courier partners (this means Eastern, Western and Northern Cape)
Wednesdays: If there are any plants that did not fit in the Tuesday truck, they travel in the second batch on a Wednesday.
Thursdays and Fridays: No plants are shipped, we carefully monitor all the travelling plant babies to ensure they arrive safely at their new homes !

Why do we do this?

Our shipping schedule works this way to ensure that your plants are less likely to spend a weekend in the courier depot ! Our shipping schedule is designed this way to ensure that your plants are fresh and healthy, for this same reason we do not like keeping stock for extended periods of time which means that stock received on Thursdays and Fridays will only be shipped the following week.
