Dwarf Striped Serene Strength

Scientific Name: Dracaena rosculata (formerly:Sansevieria rosculata)
Common Names / Known As: Snake Plant Rosette, Dwarf Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, Rosette Sansevieria

Overview: This hardy indoor warrior flaunts compact rosette clusters of sword-shaped leaves with striking dark and light green horizontal lines that whisper zen calm. As the dwarf version of the classic snake plant, native to arid South African savannas, it thrives as a petite powerhouse in local homes. Its upright, low-growing form brings bold, sculptural vibes to table tops or shelves, perfect for effortless October greenery.

Quirky Fact / Common Use: In SA San traditions, these dwarf rosettes are placed at doorways during spring to “guard” homes from evil spirits—its stripes symbolise bushman tracking lines for epic braai protection and good fortune!

Available in: 12cm Nursery Pots (Some variation in design on leave, depends on cultivator)

Ideal For:

  • Cosy flats, small townhouses, open-plan offices, bathrooms & limited-space braais in Joburg or Cape Town homes
  • Beginner plant lovers or as a thoughtful gift—super easy-going with zero drama!
  • A must-have for air-purifying oxygen boost, adding bold texture & striped contrast to terrarium mixes or mixed planters. It’s boldly elegant foliage makes a strong statement and grows to 15-30cm—ideal for table tops, counter tops, office desks or school counters.

Received plants may differ slightly from images displayed. Unless otherwise specified, all Plants come in black nursery pots

🌿 Care: Overwatering causes mushy roots like soggy biltong—let top 5cm dry out completely to avoid rot! Trim brown tips with clean scissors for sharp edges. For dusty stripes from dry air, wipe leaves monthly with a damp cloth. Pro tip: They’re drought champs—err on dry side for unbeatable rosette vibes!

☀️ Light: Indirect bright to low light—loves east-facing windows or shady corners; tolerates almost anything but direct sun fades stripes like overdone boerewors!

💧 Watering: Water only when top 5cm soil is bone-dry (every 2-3 weeks); use room-temp water & ensure excellent drainage—practically bulletproof!

🌡️ Temperature: 15-30°C—perfect for toasty SA springs & cosy winter homes; tough as nails, but keep away from icy draughts below 10°C.

🍽️ Feeding: Use Slow Release Fertilizer pellets every 6 months year-round, or Apply a balanced, diluted Liquid Fertilizer (e.g., 5:1:4) every 8 weeks in spring & summer; skip in winter.

Pet Friendly?Yes—totally safe for cats, dogs, kids & humans; fine for non-aquatic setups, but not for live fish tanks or ponds. 🐶🐱

What would you like to see:

To ensure fresh and healthy plants we follow a strict weekly shipping schedule:

Mondays: We prepare plants for shipping! This means wrapping the soil, adding plant sleeves, and one last pre-travel watering.
Tuesdays: We wake up bright and early to get all plants carefully packaged for shipping in the morning, in the afternoon we hand over plants with the longest travel ahead of them to our courier partners (this means Eastern, Western and Northern Cape)
Wednesdays: If there are any plants that did not fit in the Tuesday truck, they travel in the second batch on a Wednesday.
Thursdays and Fridays: No plants are shipped, we carefully monitor all the travelling plant babies to ensure they arrive safely at their new homes !

Why do we do this?

Our shipping schedule works this way to ensure that your plants are less likely to spend a weekend in the courier depot ! Our shipping schedule is designed this way to ensure that your plants are fresh and healthy, for this same reason we do not like keeping stock for extended periods of time which means that stock received on Thursdays and Fridays will only be shipped the following week.
