Introducing the sleek and hardy Snake Plant (Sansevieria Robusta)! | Indoor Plant

Meet the Snake Plant ‘Sansevieria Robusta’, your new green sidekick that’s tougher than a Johannesburg traffic jam and just as upright in style! Originating from West Africa, this robust beauty sports stiff, upright leaves that bring a modern, sculptural vibe to any South African home or office. It thrives on a little neglect—perfect for busy urbanites in Cape Town apartments or Pretoria townhouses alike. With its air-purifying reputation, it quietly helps filter indoor air, even when the power’s out or there’s a heatwave outside. Its sculptural foliage adds architectural interest without demanding constant babysitting. Give it a corner, a shelf, or a low-lit spot near your favourite mug of rooibos, and watch it stand tall (literally) through seasons of change.

Why Choose This Plant?

  • Ultra-hardy: Survives irregular watering and variable indoor climates common in South African homes.

  • Air purifier: Renowned for filtering toxins (e.g., formaldehyde), making your lounge or home office feel fresher.

  • Stylish statement: Its upright, sword-like leaves suit minimalist, boho, or urban jungle aesthetics.

  • Space-smart: Grows vertically, so it’s perfect for tight corners in studio flats or cosy living rooms.

  • Low fuss: Ideal for first-time plant parents or anyone who’s perpetually “too busy” for high-maintenance greenery.

  • Pet Friendly? No. Sadly, Sansevieria Robusta is mildly toxic if ingested by cats, dogs, curious wildlife or children. Best to place out of reach or pair with pet-safe plants elsewhere.

Quirky / Little-Known Fact
Despite its common name “Snake Plant” or “Mother-in-Law’s Tongue,” in Afrikaans many call it the ‘slang plant’—and it’s been quietly guarding South African homes for generations. Bonus trivia: the genus Sansevieria has been reclassified under Dracaena, so your ‘Sansevieria’ Robusta is botanically a Dracaena now—making it a subtle celeb among plant taxonomists!

Add this stalwart to your cart for a lekker, low-key indoor companion that stands tall through droughts, busy schedules, and shifting South African seasons.

What would you like to see:

To ensure fresh and healthy plants we follow a strict weekly shipping schedule:

Mondays: We prepare plants for shipping! This means wrapping the soil, adding plant sleeves, and one last pre-travel watering.
Tuesdays: We wake up bright and early to get all plants carefully packaged for shipping in the morning, in the afternoon we hand over plants with the longest travel ahead of them to our courier partners (this means Eastern, Western and Northern Cape)
Wednesdays: If there are any plants that did not fit in the Tuesday truck, they travel in the second batch on a Wednesday.
Thursdays and Fridays: No plants are shipped, we carefully monitor all the travelling plant babies to ensure they arrive safely at their new homes !

Why do we do this?

Our shipping schedule works this way to ensure that your plants are less likely to spend a weekend in the courier depot ! Our shipping schedule is designed this way to ensure that your plants are fresh and healthy, for this same reason we do not like keeping stock for extended periods of time which means that stock received on Thursdays and Fridays will only be shipped the following week.
