Overview: This dramatic indoor icon flaunts massive violin-shaped leaves with glossy deep green texture that ripple like ocean waves in a spring breeze. Native to the tropical rainforests of West Africa and thriving as a bold stunner in South African homes, it excels as an upright showstopper. Its sculptural, tree-like form brings luxurious, safari-lodge vibes to corners or living rooms, perfect for statement October greenery.

Quirky Fact / Common Use: In SA Zulu traditions, fiddle leaf figs are placed in boardrooms during spring to “play” successful deals—its violin leaves symbolise harmonious prosperity for epic braai business blessings and abundant jol seasons!

Available in: 15cm, 19cm, 23cm, 30cm

Ideal For:

  • Cosy flats, small townhouses, open-plan offices, bathrooms & limited-space braais in Joburg or Cape Town homes
  • Beginner plant lovers or as a thoughtful gift—moderately easy-going with consistent TLC!
  • A must-have for air-purifying oxygen boost, adding glossy texture & dramatic contrast to terrarium mixes or mixed planters. It’s boldly elegant foliage makes a STRONG statement and grows to 120-300cm—ideal for floor standing, living room corners or office desks.

(Received plants may differ slightly from images displayed. Unless otherwise specified, all Plants come in black nursery pots)

🌿 Care: Overwatering drops leaves like a bad Tinder date—let top 5cm dry out completely to avoid root rot! Trim brown tips with clean scissors & wipe massive leaves monthly for dust-free shine. For leggy growth from low light, rotate weekly & prune in spring. Pro tip: Stable temps = happy fiddle—avoid drama like sudden moves!

☀️ Light: Bright indirect light—loves east or west-facing windows with sheer curtains; too dark causes floppy leaves, too sunny scorches like a Karoo braai!

💧 Watering: Water when top 5cm soil is dry (every 10-14 days); use room-temp water & ensure excellent drainage—drought-tolerant champs!

🌡️ Temperature: 18-27°C—perfect for toasty SA springs & cosy winter homes; keep away from icy draughts or hot braai vents below 15°C.

🍽️ Feeding: Apply a balanced, diluted Liquid Fertilizer (e.g., 5:1:4) every 4 weeks in spring & summer; skip in winter or use Slow Release Fertilizer pellets for lazy feeding all year.

Pet Friendly? No—mildly toxic to cats & dogs if nibbled (causes mouth irritation); keep out of reach from kids & safe for non-aquatic setups, but not for live fish tanks or ponds.

What would you like to see:

To ensure fresh and healthy plants we follow a strict weekly shipping schedule:

Mondays: We prepare plants for shipping! This means wrapping the soil, adding plant sleeves, and one last pre-travel watering.
Tuesdays: We wake up bright and early to get all plants carefully packaged for shipping in the morning, in the afternoon we hand over plants with the longest travel ahead of them to our courier partners (this means Eastern, Western and Northern Cape)
Wednesdays: If there are any plants that did not fit in the Tuesday truck, they travel in the second batch on a Wednesday.
Thursdays and Fridays: No plants are shipped, we carefully monitor all the travelling plant babies to ensure they arrive safely at their new homes !

Why do we do this?

Our shipping schedule works this way to ensure that your plants are less likely to spend a weekend in the courier depot ! Our shipping schedule is designed this way to ensure that your plants are fresh and healthy, for this same reason we do not like keeping stock for extended periods of time which means that stock received on Thursdays and Fridays will only be shipped the following week.
